Originally founded a women's college, it became fully co-educational in 1969. Plan for a campus tour when you visit Bennington College, and don't miss some of the campus highlights like the Tishman Lecture Hall, the Jennings Music Building, or the Crossett Library.
Set in the Green Mountains, Bennington Handmade Pottery is located in Bennington in southern Vermont. Founded in 1948, Bennington Potters encourages visitors to stop by the Potters Yard – set at a historic, former gristmill and schoolhouse.
Bennington Handmade Pottery also features shopping for handmade stoneware, home décor, Vermont specialty foods, and more. The pottery shop and self-guided tours are held Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. – and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Formerly the Bennington Historical Association, the Bennington Museum was founded in 1852 in the city of Bennington. The museum is known for unique-to-Vermont artwork, toys, maps and books, and military artifacts.

Named after the wife of General John Stark, Molly Stark State Park is located in southern Vermont, just east of Bennington. Set along State Route 9 – otherwise known as the Molly Stark Trail Scenic Byway – the park was first constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Open daily from 10 a.m. to sunset, Molly Stark State Park’s season runs from Memorial Day Weekend to Columbus Day. Visitors may hike the two-mile Mt. Olga Trail, the quick Nature Center Spur, and neighboring trails in the Hogback Conservation Association area. Biking, cross-country skiing, and pets are also allowed.
Set on 200 acres, the Park-McCullough Historic House was built in 1864, and is located in North Bennington in southern Vermont. Listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, the house is owned and operated by the Park-McCullough House Association.
Open to the public, the Park McCullough House features tours on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Events are held at the Carriage Barn, while tours are given of the grounds and big house – one of New England’s best-preserved Victorian mansions.
A private liberal arts school, Southern Vermont College was established in 1926 in the city of Bennington, Vermont. Covering 371 acres, Southern Vermont has approximately 500 students enrolled, and offers 15 degree programs.
